Job Summary
Nursing/Patient Care Services Teacher responsible for implementing the Nursing/Patient Care curriculum, supervising students at clinical worksites, evaluating student progress, and preparing students for CNA certification. The role includes organizing instruction with an integrated CCTE curriculum, promoting leadership and employability skills, collaborating with post-secondary partners for dual credit, integrating industry standards, participating in professional development, maintaining a safe classroom, and using instructional technology. Requires current WA RN license, WA CTE teaching credentials, 6,000 hours RN experience, a valid Type II driver's license, and ability to complete required CNA course and DOH training within the first year; strong collaboration with community, teachers, and advisory committees is expected.
Required Qualifications
- Hold a current WA State Registered Nurse (RN) certification
- Must qualify for or hold a valid Washington State Career and Technical Education Teacher Certification in Worksite Learning
- Must qualify for or hold a valid Washington State Career and Technical Education Teaching Certificate
- 6,000 hours of work experience as RN
- Minimum of three years’ experience (6,000 hours) as RN in industry hours
- Completion of the courses to teach the required units of the certified nursing assistant program curriculum within the first year of being hired (if needed)
- Completion of the required Department of Health courses to administer student skill tests for their CNA certificate upon earning their program completion certificate within the first year of being hired (if needed)
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with post-secondary partners to develop dual credit opportunities for high school students
