Job Summary
Provide clinical direction and oversight for health assessments, interventions, and 24/7 clinical staff in a correctional clinic. Direct supervision includes approving timecards, scheduling, coaching, performance reviews, and managing progressive discipline. Maintain clinic compliance with NCCHC standards through annual audits and document operational effectiveness. Develop productivity standards, create clinic assignments, and respond to clinical emergencies by providing immediate direction and support. Review nursing documentation and Electronic Health Record queues to ensure tasks are completed. This role requires a Bachelor's degree or five years of nursing experience with two years in a supervisory capacity. The position involves a 3PM to 11PM shift, including weekends and holidays, with travel to locations within a 5-mile radius.
Required Qualifications
- Five years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital or ambulatory care setting
- Two years of experience serving as a supervisory nurse or in another capacity that involves clinical oversight of other nurses or medical staff
- A valid, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing or issued by another state recognized by the Arizona Board of Nursing as a multi-compact license state
- A Bachelor's of Nursing or higher may substitute for one year of the nursing experience requirement
- An active and valid BLS, CPR, and First Aid Certifications that meet the AHA curriculum standards, with in-person skills test and hands-on demonstration components
- Ability to work inside a jail and stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time throughout the shift
- Ability to accurately handle a high volume of work, communicate with a culturally diverse patient population, and adapt to frequent changes, interruptions, and unscheduled tasks
- Ability to respond to emergencies
- Must maintain CPR and First Aid certification and get on the floor to perform CPR/chest compressions, push medical equipment, climb stairs, and lift patients on a gurney
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check and maintain MCSO jail access
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive
- Must be able to lift patients on a gurney
