Job Summary
Nursing Manager responsible for leading a veterinary emergency nursing team and building a culture of empowerment, collaboration, and growth. Role includes managing day-to-day flow of the nursing team, overseeing scheduling, payroll, onboarding/offboarding, addressing patient care issues and team dynamics, partnering with hospital leadership to align on goals, using doctor feedback to guide team development, upholding licensure and education standards, driving 1:1s and mentorship, and fostering a culture of learning with in-house training and development pathways. Requires credentialed veterinary technicians and a track record of clinical nursing leadership in emergency veterinary settings, with emphasis on compassionate leadership, strong communication, and ongoing team development within a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
Required Qualifications
- Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state the VEG practice is located is required
- A.S. or B.S. from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is strongly preferred
- 5+ years in a clinical veterinary nursing role, emergency-specific experience preferred; 2+ years of leadership experience
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Must be willing to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis based on hospital needs
- Work well in a fast-paced environment with people from all backgrounds and different personality types
