Job Summary
Plan and teach nursing courses including classroom, lab, and clinical sessions while contributing to curriculum evaluation and implementation. Remain current with subject matter and instructional methodology, employing appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance and communicate progress timely. Determine and submit student grades, assist with advising, and develop syllabi while mentoring adjunct faculty and establishing advisory groups. Direct teaching assistant activities and coach students to provide safe, efficacious patient care during clinical experiences. Maintain posted office hours, represent the college in the community, and promote positive relationships with service area hospitals and professional peers. Serve as a role model for students in professional interactions and maintain a safe environment for clinical learning.
Required Qualifications
- Master Degree in Nursing or a plan for completion
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Expert level of medical/surgical nursing practice
- Two-years of clinical nursing experience as a registered nurse, during the past five years, in the area instruction will be provided
- Valid and non-restricted registered nurse licensure in state of Ohio
- Ability to document identity and employment eligibility as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements
- Applicant must successfully pass required background checks in accordance with Southern State Community College's policies and procedures and applicable laws
Desired Qualifications
- Five or more years' registered nursing experience
- Previous experience as a licensed practical nurse
- Expert level of knowledge of the licensed practical nursing scope of practice
