NURSING HOUSE SUPERVISOR PRN

Job Summary
Direct activities necessary for efficient functioning of all systems and personnel on the unit, supervising nurses (RNs, LPNs) and providing direct care to patients. Coordinate patient requirements with the Nurse Manager, round to assess current staffing, and record corrections in the shift report log binder. Investigate patient and staff grievances promptly, evaluate employee performance through work assignments, and interview and select nursing staff. Facilitate in-service training, identify staff development needs, and ensure diagnostic and medical services are provided promptly as ordered. Requires a Bachelors Degree in Nursing, RN license in the District of Columbia, and four or more years of inpatient psychiatric experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing
- RN License in the District of Columbia
- BLS Certification
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Basic Health Information Management (HIM) system knowledge
- Four or more years of inpatient psychiatric experience with clinical and administrative responsibilities
- At least two years of experience in a supervisory position
- 3-8 years of overall nursing experience
- Ability to collaborate with staff and patients of all racial, ethnicities, genders, and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Experience with policies and procedures related to the scope of nursing
- The ability to manage staff and advise senior management
- Coordinates resources from other disciplines and departments in the delivery of patient care
- Ensures that diagnostic, consultative, and medical services for patients are provided promptly as ordered
- Determines the effectiveness of the plan of care through documentation of patient care outcomes
- Provides professional consultation to colleagues and other hospital staff and seeks assistance from peers as needed
- Actively participates in nursing and hospital committees
- Verbalizes knowledge of professional issues and willingness to accomplish assigned tasks
- Rounds to assess current staffing on units
