Job Summary
The Nursing Assistant (NA) supports direct care under the RN/LPN, performing basic care tasks, patient preparation, vital signs, documentation in electronic health records, and assistance with ambulation, hygiene, feeding, and discharge/transport as needed. Responsibilities include maintaining asepsis, following safety policies, assisting with procedures, recording patient data, and contributing to patient comfort and care coordination in an ED setting. The role requires physical capability to lift and move patients, adherence to infection control practices, and ongoing professional development; pre-employment physical capacity testing may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a Level I - Nurse Aide education program approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing or successful completion of the NC -approved Nurse Aide I competency test.
- No education required for NA I
- High School diploma or equivalent required for NA II
- BCLS certification must be maintained/completed by the end of new hire orientation
