Job Summary

Conduct resident services and delegate duties to staff and volunteers, including personal care, housekeeping, laundry, meal services, and social-recreational activities. Provide assistance with instrumental activities of daily living, bathing, toileting, transfers, and mobility while encouraging self-care and independence. Maintain clean, safe environments, follow infection control and emergency procedures, and communicate resident status changes, concerns, and observations to the nurse or supervisor. Review assignments with the designated supervisor, read staff communication records, and assist with orienting new staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of the current state-specific certification, where required
  • Be willing to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Have a genuine interest in caring for elderly residents and working in a geriatric environment
  • Must be available some weekends and holidays
  • Twelve (12) plus years of education
  • 18 – 24 months experience in a similar position
  • CPR/First Aid certified
  • Ability to spend long periods on feet and to ambulate quickly
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally; 35 pounds regularly
  • Ability to work safely and to recognize potentially dangerous situations
  • Ability to follow all policies and procedures
  • Adequate and clear English speaking and writing ability
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Displays cleanliness, good grooming, personal appearance and follows dress requirements consistently
  • Displays mature behavior and attitude in speech and action
  • Interacts in professional manner with Residents, public and co-workers
  • Works cooperatively with management
  • Displays willingness to assist co-workers when situation requires
  • Maintains acceptable attendance record/follows work schedule
  • Willingness to adhere to assisted living principles in providing services
  • Ability/willingness to perform all position responsibilities adequately
  • Keeps all information confidential
  • Organizes and utilizes time appropriately toward accomplishing assigned tasks
  • Requires minimal supervision
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, walk, reach, and stoop

Desired Qualifications

  • CPR/First Aid certified preferred
  • Twelve (12) plus years of education preferred
  • 18 – 24 months experience in a similar position
