NURSING ASSISTANT/PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN - PCU 3NS - WEEKEND

Job Summary
Deliver direct and indirect patient care in accordance with hospital policies, responding to call lights and assisting patients with activities of daily living. Perform skills including obtaining vital signs, applying telemetry leads, performing EKGs, and conducting ostomy care or dressing changes. Transport patients, collect and document care data, and assist in educational processes to promote self-care. Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control, monitoring sterile supplies, and ensuring survey readiness. Act as a resource person and preceptor for new hires, while communicating pertinent information to nurses and participating in performance improvement activities.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or higher level of education
- Sound judgment
- Problem solving skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to follow directions from other team members
- Ability to work independently
- Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
- Travel may be expected locally between Independence Health locations
- Goggles, face shield and mask
- Lift assistance (2 person) and/or transfer device when lift requirement is in excess of 50#
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a Nurse Aide or comparable program (such as EMT, Medical Assistant, nursing student with at least one semester of clinical or prior experience in related field)
- Computer skills
- Phlebotomy
- EKG experience
