NURSING ASSISTANT/PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN - MED SURG 4AB - WEEKEND

Job Summary
Deliver direct and indirect patient care by assisting with activities of daily living, responding to call lights, and performing skills such as vital signs, EKGs, and ostomy care. Transport patients, maintain isolation boxes, and ensure a safe environment through hourly rounding and infection control protocols. Collect and document patient data including intake, output, and weights while acting as a resource for new hires and students. Maintain supply inventories and assist in departmental performance improvement activities. Schedule rotates based on operational need with potential local travel between Independence Health locations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or higher level of education
- Sound judgment
- Problem solving skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to follow directions from other team members
- Ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
- When lift requirement is in excess of 50#, lift assistance (2 person) and/or transfer device is required
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a Nurse Aide or comparable program (such as EMT, Medical Assistant, nursing student with at least one semester of clinical or prior experience in related field
- Computer skills
- Phlebotomy
- EKG experience
