Job Summary
Provide direct care to patients on the Ortho Trauma / Urology Unit, including personal hygiene, nutritional assistance, comfort care, and safe patient transfers. Take vital signs, complete recordkeeping, and promptly report changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse. Maintain a safe, clean environment while working rotating 8-hour shifts (day, evening, or night) with 48 hours every two weeks and every other weekends. This role supports the mission of Essentia Health in Duluth, Minnesota, emphasizing patient-centered care and safety under direct nursing supervision.
Required Qualifications
- 6 months of nursing assistant experience
- Completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program
- Enrollment into the Essentia Health Nursing Assistant Foundation Course within 30 days of hire
- Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program
- Current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry
- Must be able to work 48 hours every two weeks
- Must be able to work every other weekend
- Must be able to work rotating 8 hour shifts
- Must be able to work day shift 6:00am - 2:30pm
- Must be able to work evening shift 2pm - 10:30pm
- Must be able to work night shift 10pm - 6:30pm
- BLS certified
- Ability to become BLS certified within 1 month from hire date
- Completion of Essentia Health Nursing Assistant Foundation course within 90 days of hire
