Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of a RN, the Nursing Assistant Med Surg delivers direct patient care including personal care (feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming), assisting with ambulation and transfers, taking vital signs, documenting observations, monitoring for safety and comfort, and supporting RN activities. Responsibilities include occasional specimen collection, assisting with admissions/transfers/discharges, preventing falls, assisting with positioning and ROM, providing nourishment and hydration, maintaining skin integrity, and ensuring environment safety. Requires completing CNA program or nursing-rotation experience, with BLS certification. Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 0.9 FTE, part-time, every other weekend, in Minneapolis, MN, under Allina Health. Key skills: patient care, vital signs documentation, use of lifting/transfer equipment, adherence to policies, communication with RN, safety and infection control, and ability to work in a team within a hospital setting.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age OR 17 years of age with high school diploma or GED
- Successful completion of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program OR Completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program OR Completion of the Allina Health Nursing Assistant Academy Program OR Previous direct patient care experience
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association OR Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross OR Allina in-house BLS training within 30 days of hire
