Nursing Assistant - Evenings/Nights - Advanced Acute Care Cardiovascular/Stroke Unit (No CNA Cert Required)

Job Summary
Deliver direct patient care and assist with activities of daily living, including hygiene, linens, and safety watch. Perform point-of-care testing, specimen collection and transport, and coordinate patient testing logistics. Manage clerical duties for admissions, transfers, and discharges while processing orders and communicating electronic information. Transport non-controlled medications and blood products as needed, and maintain equipment and supplies. Mentor new staff and students, and ensure compliance with all organizational policies. Full-time evening/overnight rotation (36 hours weekly, 7pm–7:30am) with shift differentials. No CNA certification required; AHA ACLS and BLS preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of 1 year Clinical experience
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body
- Reliability, punctuality, and strong attendance

- Ability to perform a wide range of direct patient care activities and clerical duties

- Ability to report changes in patient condition to licensed personnel in a timely manner
- Ability to obtain and maintain the integrity of specimens in accordance with policy and procedure
- Ability to provide for or assist patients with activities of daily living
- Ability to provide one to one patient safety watch as assigned
- Ability to accurately process specimens and provide timely transport of the specimen to the laboratory
- Ability to perform point of care patient testing and point of care instrument maintenance and quality control
- Ability to assist in problem solving, trouble shooting and taking corrective measures in care and maintenance of equipment and supplies
- Ability to serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students
- Ability to perform clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths
- Ability to transcribe and process orders according to unit standard
- Ability to release and confirm ordered tests to appropriate departments
- Ability to coordinate transportation of patients to multiple tests
- Ability to participate in obtaining and communicating electronic information as pertinent to the nursing unit
- Ability to schedule tests, faxes consults, etc.
- Ability to assist in ordering supplies
- Ability to communicate with food services to ensure appropriate patient diets
- Ability to operate, problem solve, and take corrective measures for clerical equipment
- Ability to transport non-controlled medications as necessary
- Ability to assist with transporting non-controlled medications to and from Pharmacy and within the unit
- Ability to assist with transporting blood products to and from Blood Bank
