Nursing Assistant

Provide patient care according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Ensure safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services, and appropriate documentation of services. Act as an Observer for patients requiring constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize safety. Perform general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. Document care provided in the electronic medical record. This role supports the 68-bed cardiac step-down unit at Royal Oak Hospital, which treats patients with diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, and arrhythmias.
