Job Summary
Assists RN with daily patient care including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation which may include use of therapeutic assistive devices, proper positioning, range of motion and special transferring as indicated. Documents vital signs (BP, Temp, Pulse, Respiration), I&O, daily weights, and other patient data in EMR; conducts purposeful rounding and communicates observations to RN. Supports admission, transfer, and discharge processes, ensures patient call light is within reach, collects specimens, maintains nursing area stock and equipment, assists with patient positioning/transport, and follows infection prevention practices. Requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs, operate in a healthcare setting with exposure to hazards, and demonstrate age-appropriate patient care across the lifespan. Licensure/Certification and education prerequisites include BLS certification and Nurse Aide registration, along with GED/HSED or high school diploma. The role emphasizes teamwork with RNs and adherence to hospital policies and procedures, along with ongoing compliance with annual educational requirements and care standards.
Required Qualifications
- BLS for Healthcare Providers certification (AHA) must be obtained within 45 days
- Nurse Aide in good standing as indicated with the State Registry
- GED or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) or High School Graduate
