Job Summary
The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as a caregiver to residents in a long-term care setting under RN supervision. Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance, including activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, vital signs, transfer and mobility assistance, range of motion and passive exercises, meal support, hydration, and documentation of resident interactions. Supports wellness and recreational programs, ensures infection prevention and PPE use per policies, communicates changing resident conditions to the charge nurse, and may participate in department/organization committees. Requires CNA certification and generally aligns with high school diploma or GED as preferred/required, with ongoing continuing education and state credential maintenance; driving duties may apply in some facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement
- CNA training and certification required and provided by facility
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- minimum age of 16
- prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred
- annual continuing education requirements (12 hours) and maintenance of certifications
- may be classified as Sanford Category II Driver requiring valid driver’s license (where applicable)
- ability to assist with activities of daily living, vital signs, documentation, and infection control
