Job Summary
The Nursing Assistant (NA) provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to residents in long-term care under RN supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with basic health care needs and activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, feeding, vital signs), transferring and repositioning residents using proper techniques, range of motion and passive exercises, participating in dining and meal services, documenting resident interactions and care outcomes, communicating changes to the charge nurse, assisting with psychosocial support, and supporting wellness and recreational programs. The role requires infection prevention practices and PPE usage, and may involve driving responsibilities as per facility needs. Requires CNA certification with the state, or enrollment in a certification process, with ongoing competency testing and continuing education. Location is Sanford Health system in Sioux Falls area with standard 40-hour evening shifts; emphasizes patient-centered care in a rural, community healthcare setting.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing
- CNA certification or in process of obtaining certification via Endorsement
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
- Minimum age 16
- CNA training and certification provided by facility
- Satisfactory completion of annual competency testing and continuing education credits
