Job Summary
Nursing Assistant in a Medical Surgical unit working 7a-7p on a full-time schedule. Provides direct patient care and supports nursing staff with routine activities such as eating, bathing, dressing, and ambulation. Responsibilities include reporting observations to nurses, monitoring vital signs and intake/output, specimen collection, assisting with admissions/transfers/discharges, ensuring patient safety, maintaining asepsis, documenting care, and communicating with the care team. Basic medical terminology knowledge and effective written and verbal communication are preferred. Requires ability to lift ~50 pounds with assistance; shifts involve walking, standing, bending, and positioning patients. Education: high school diploma or GED preferred; NYS CNA certification preferred; hospital setting experience in medical-surgical care is common.
