Job Summary
Assist with general activities on the Short Stay Observation Unit, supporting the health care team under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Maintain a clean, safe patient care unit, ensure supplies/equipment are stocked, and assist patients with activities of daily life. Collect specimens per policy, use Hospital Information Systems, relay information between physicians, nurses, lab personnel, and other departments, and transport patients and reports as needed. Cover unit front desk as needed. Participate in Quality Assessment and Improvement programs and unit/department education. Proficient care for patients of all ages, with emphasis on pediatric population; requires ability to obtain specimens (including blood) and reading/writing of medical terminology. Current American Heart Association BLS required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- Minimum 1 year patient care experience highly preferred
