Job Summary
Nurse role providing direct pediatric mental health nursing care and coordinating medical needs for children served by Vanier Children’s Mental Wellness. Responsibilities include reviewing medical questionnaires, coordinating with family physicians, reviewing immunization records, processing physician orders for delegated nursing duties, handling medication incident reports, providing feedback and risk escalation, attending case conferences, documenting medical information, liaising with physicians and community professionals, responding to emergency medical situations, administering first aid, arranging follow-up medical interventions, ensuring adequate medications, and supervising/mentoring staff in safe medication handling and administration; requires RN/RPN in good standing, Canadian licensing, and experience in pediatric health and mental health contexts. Education emphasizes a two-year RPN diploma (with preference for BScN), CNO registration, and related clinical skills; schedule is Monday to Friday, full-time, in-person, with benefits including HOOPP, extended health care, dental and vision care, vacation, holidays, and parking.
Required Qualifications
- Two-year diploma in Registered Practical Nursing (RPN) required
- Current registration in the General Class at the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in good standing
- Previous nursing experience in institutional and community settings involving children
- Training and/or experience in mental health; child development and behavior management
- Excellent assessment skills, including demonstrated knowledge of crisis intervention skills for children and youth
- Holds a current active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Additional certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, an asset
