Job Summary
Senior nursing leadership opportunity as Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) for St Augustine’s Ward at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, within the Correctional Health team. Lead and mentor the nursing team to ensure patient care aligns with NSQHS and Justice Health Service Standards, while developing processes and defined pathways for bed management between SVHM and correctional facilities. Collaborate with Corrections Victoria and external agencies to support admission and discharge planning, oversee transfers to and from inpatient units, and drive stakeholder engagement. Accountable for bed management, adherence to security criteria for admissions, and achievement of Service Delivery Outcomes and KPIs. Drive development of clinical pathways, contribute to strategic direction, and provide monthly reporting. Supervises nursing staff, ensures annual competency completion, and maintains confidentiality of patients and staff documentation. Strong emphasis on cross‐sector collaboration, discharge planning, and governance within a senior clinical ward leadership role.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Nursing meeting AHPRA registration
- Post Graduate Qualifications in General Nursing
- Previous experience as Nurse Unit Manager, or similar
- Leadership qualities to direct, coordinate, enthuse, motivate, support and encourage a multi-disciplinary team
- High level interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
