Job Summary
Direct nursing care as necessary, admit, transfer, and discharge residents, and make rounds with physicians. Assist the Director in directing day-to-day nursing activities, developing policies, and coordinating with other resident services to ensure continuity of care. Develop work assignments, ensure sufficient staffing of LPNs, RNs, and CNAs, and monitor personnel compliance with safety regulations and procedures. Complete accident/incident reports, medical forms, and evaluations while maintaining current reference materials and adequate medication stocks. Participate in facility surveys, quality assurance programs, and resident discharge planning. Attend continuing education programs to maintain licensure and keep current on nursing practices. On-call rotation required.
Required Qualifications
- Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved LPN/RN program
- 2 year(s) of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related health care facility
- current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an LPN/RN in this state
- knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care
- leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel
- ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
- ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, & interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies & procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care
- patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents
