Job Summary
Perform bedside nursing activities including bathing, ambulating, turning patients, and assisting with bedpans or urinary devices under supervision. Assist with additional procedures such as catheterizations, suctioning, irrigating colostomies, applying restraints, and administering enemas, douches, or sitz baths. Maintain patient property and follow hospital policies and procedures for all care tasks. Requires current enrollment in an accredited nursing program (BSN or ADN) with adult medical-surgical rotations completed, plus BLS certification. Graduates must be eligible for Michigan licensure or awaiting NCLEX results. Schedule includes nine shifts per 12 weeks with three weekend shifts; applies to candidates graduating fall 2027 or later. Located at Royal Oak Hospital's Progressive Care Unit (3CN/4CN/5CN).
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled and attending an accredited school of registered nursing
- May be enrolled in an (accredited) Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program (BSN) or Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) Program
- Required RN from another state awaiting Michigan Licensure
- Graduate Nurse from accredited school of nursing awaiting retake of NCLEX or awaiting results of the last exam
- Required High School Diploma
- Evidence of successful completion of adult medical-surgical rotations – theory and clinical
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Or ARC American Red Cross
- Comply with the MMR, Varicella, Tdap, and Influenza vaccine requirement
