Job Summary

Collect and monitor patient data, including physiological and psychological needs, while obtaining and recording vital signs. Provide direct patient care such as sterile intermittent catheterization, bowel programs, hygiene, and intake/outpatient recording. Transport patients safely for diagnostic testing and therapy, answer call lights promptly, and maintain clean patient and work environments. Document all care via computer or written records and communicate updates to the assigned registered nurse. Assist with quality data collection, equipment malfunctions, and supply waste reduction while ensuring infection control policies are followed. Work rotating night shifts from 7:00pm to 7:30am, 36 hours per week, under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent GED required
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Course for HealthCare Providers
  • Must be able to understand and follow department policies related to employee safety
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position occasionally
  • Must be able to traverse or move around work location occasionally
  • Must be able to use keyboard occasionally
  • Must be able to operate or use department specific equipment occasionally

  • Must be able to transport, position, and/or exert force up to 10 pounds frequently

  • Must follow all hospital policies related to protected health information
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service standards and behaviors in all interactions with colleagues, patients, family members, physicians, and other customers
  • Must consistently promote teamwork and direct communication with co-workers
  • Must complete all required training and competency assessments prior to the posted deadlines
  • Must meet with a nursing supervisor to complete an annual performance evaluation prior to the department or organizational deadline
  • Must provide input to the supervisor when reviewing goals and performance from the completed review period
  • Must work with the supervisor to review organizational and departmental action plans
  • Must identify personal goals for the upcoming review period
  • Must collaborate with the assigned RN, Nursing Supervisor and Nurse Educator to provide a thorough and accurate orientation for the new team member
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of and performance in accordance with hospital and department safety and infection control policies and procedures
  • Must maintain a safe and clean working environment for the benefit of patients and staff
  • Must communicate in a timely, professional and respectful manner at all times

  • Must obtain and record vital signs using appropriate equipment and technique

  • Must act as a safety attendant, as assigned, providing direct supervision under the direction of the RN to maintain the safety of the patient

  • Must provide input to the RN for use in an individualized plan of care for each patient
  • Must transport patients in a safe and timely manner to facilitate patient diagnostic testing and therapy sessions, as needed

  • Must maintain the patient's living environment in a clean, safe manner
  • Must communicate any equipment malfunctions to the Central Supply Department or Nursing Supervisor, and remove equipment from patient care in accordance with department policies

Desired Qualifications

  • Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
  • Previous experience as a nurse technician or nursing assistant is preferred
  • Understanding of medical technology and rehabilitation care is preferred
