Job Summary
Develop nursing and medical support staff schedules, monitor daily assignments, and intervene to improve efficiency and productivity. Supervise care provided by nursing staff to ensure competency and best practice standards while conducting orientation, in-service training, and competency evaluations for required staff. Manage large inventories of controlled substances, including methadone, perform physical counts, and maintain accurate narcotic records as required by regulatory agencies. Provide direct nursing care, including admission assessments, medication administration, and health education, while completing daily and monthly regulatory reporting. Work flexible shifts to provide 24-hour coverage, collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to address client needs, and review medical records to ensure continuity of care.
Required Qualifications
- NYS RN licensure
- BLS certification
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing with an Associate's Degree in Nursing
- At least Five (5) years nursing supervisory experience
- 3 years of hospital, substance use or other behavior healthcare supervisory nursing experience
- Proficiency in Phlebotomy and EKG
- Possession of strong time management, writing and communication skills
- Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills; ability to supervise, coach, mentor, develop, train and teach nurses/other clinical discipline providers
- Available to work a flexible schedule and be to work all shifts as needed in response to program and staff needs
- Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHR
- Strong leadership and effective management skills
- Ability to implement and monitor policy and procedure in accordance with agency guidelines
- Working knowledge of federal, state and local law and regulation governing substance use treatment programs
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
