Job Summary
Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the nursing staff, directing patient care functions including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation consistent with established standards. Provide professional nursing care to patients within the medical practice in support of physicians, assist in treatment, and complete related clinical paperwork. Address nursing practice issues and integrate Mercy Philosophy of caring, respect for human life, and Christian values into all responsibilities while communicating with patients, families, visitors, and employees. Interpret and apply guidelines and policies, perform medical treatments and procedures, and react effectively in emergency situations. Requires current state RN license, two years nursing experience, CPR certification, and ability to lift 50 lbs with prolonged standing and walking.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Knowledge of the principles and skills needed for nursing, care, examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures
- Knowledge of medications and their effects, patient education, principles to develop a self-care program, instruments and common safety practices
- Current, valid state Registered Nurse license
- Two years nursing experience
- CPR certification
- Skill in assisting and performing a variety of medical treatments and procedures
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Must be able to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and policies
- Must be able to communicate clearly and establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff and the public
- Basic computer terminal and keyboard skills, or the ability to learn these skills, in order to access information and enter clinical data
- Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift
- Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
