Job Summary
Provide comprehensive nursing assessments identifying client medical needs, capabilities, and limitations while documenting observations and daily notes in the electronic charting system. Administer medications and injections per physician orders, collect blood and urine samples, and coordinate pharmacy and laboratory orders with vendors. Maintain security of controlled medications, monitor administration accuracy, and complete incident reports in accordance with facility policy. Collaborate with direct care staff, physicians, and the treatment team to ensure a safe therapeutic environment and facilitate smooth admissions, transfers, and discharges. Provide education to clients and families regarding medications and side effects. Requires an associate or bachelor's degree in nursing, current Ohio licensure, and one year of behavioral healthcare experience. Valid driver's license, criminal background clearance, TB test, and CPR certification required.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or bachelor's Degree from an accredited college of nursing or higher
- Current licensure within the state of Ohio
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a behavioral healthcare setting
- Valid driver's license
- Vehicle insurance
- Acceptable driving record
- Clearance of criminal background
- TB test
- Current CPR and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain within the first 15 days of hire
- Ability to move twenty-five pounds
- Demonstrates ability to assess suicide/homicide risk and create clinically appropriate interventions
- Demonstrates an understanding of identifying abuse/neglect in client population
- Demonstrates the ability to complete comprehensive nursing assessments
- Demonstrates the ability to perform physical assessments including vital signs and to recognize symptoms and distress of clients in treatment
- Demonstrates effective verbal/written communication
- Demonstrates the ability to administers medications
- Demonstrates the ability to maintain a safe environment ensuring medications are always secured
- Demonstrates the ability to properly complete the admission and discharge process
- Demonstrates the ability to perform venipuncture and maintain universal precautions while collecting blood
- Demonstrates ability to schedule lab pick-up and upload results in chart
- Ability to move throughout the building
- Ability to participate in activities outdoors and off facility grounds
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to talk or hear
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste, or smell
- Ability to communicate with peers, clients and/or vendors
