Job Summary
Conduct learning needs assessments, validate practice gaps, and prioritize educational requirements aligned with system strategic goals. Develop and implement evidence-based educational plans that incorporate adult learning principles and diverse learner needs. Coordinate facilitation of positive learning experiences, evaluate progress toward outcomes, and disseminate results to guide future improvements. Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff, leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to promote safe, quality patient care and professional competency. Collaborate with support departments including safety, quality, and IT to advance shared governance and interprofessional practice.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed nurse
- Knowledgeable and upholds the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act
- Implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association
- Upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals
- Must work onsite
- Must work with multiple departments
- Ability to assess, identify, plan, implement, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate educational activities through a systems model
- Knowledge of tools, theories, skills, and knowledge of the specialty to improve healthcare practice of learners based on the Association of Nurse Professional Development (ANPD) Practice Model
- Expertise in education and professional development practices
- Ability to collaborate with staff, leadership, faculty and researchers to implement and evaluate professional development programs
- Ability to influence professional role competence, continuous learning and growth
- Ability to promote synergistic practices and patient outcomes throughout the organization
- Ability to advance the NPD practice based on Wellstar's Nursing Professional Practice Model
- Ability to advance the NPD practice in accordance with Association Nursing Professional Development Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing Practice
- Ability to act as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for scientific inquiry, advocate for Nurse Professional Development specialty and partner for practice transitions
- Ability to support the Clinical Nursing Professional Development Educator Specialist, clinical manager, and interprofessional team
- Ability to implement, document, and modify evidence-based, quality, and educational programs and activities
- Ability to promote professional competency and role performance for nursing and non-licensed staff
- Ability to practice in a clinical environment in a functional role
- Ability to ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care
- Ability to be a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers
