Job Summary

Deliver nursing care using the nursing process, administer and monitor medications, and respond to urgent or crisis situations within the residential setting. Monitor patient status, communicate with prescribers regarding orders, and collaborate with treatment teams, patients, and families. Support admissions, transfers, and continuity of care while maintaining accurate clinical documentation and upholding confidentiality. Work in a psychiatric residential treatment facility and behavioral urgent care unit providing structured, trauma-informed care. Night shift coverage from 7pm to 7am available for full-time and part-time roles.

Required Qualifications

  • current Registered Nurse license with Kansas State Board of Nursing
  • Must maintain Kansas State licensure
  • appropriate CEUs
  • current CPR license
  • current CPI training
  • good command of the English language
  • ability to read, communicate clearly and therapeutically with patients and staff, both verbally and in writing, in a professional manner
  • ability to quickly access data, assimilate printed and electronic information, make decisions and judgements in emergent situations, and respond appropriately
  • ability to observe and interact in a positive, nonjudgmental, nonreactive manner with patients, family members, patient caregivers, and staff
  • ability to observe patient demeanor and nonverbal communication for assessment purposes
  • knowledge about medications and their side effects, or at least the ability to obtain the information quickly
  • self directed and able to work independently
  • willingness to have some flexibility in scheduling, to meet patient and organization needs
  • ability to stand (agile) and to sit at a desk for periods of up to two hours
  • ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • ability to kneel, bend, squat, and hold on to a person, in order to restrain an out of control patient
  • ability to communicate effectively with referral sources and other treatment providers
  • proficiency at basic keyboarding / word processing skills
  • ability to pass Kansas Bureau of Investigation Screen
  • ability to pass the Central Registry Screen for both adults and children
  • ability to pass the DCF (Kansas Department for Children & Families) background check

Desired Qualifications

  • BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) degree
  • Two years in psychiatric nursing
