Job Summary

Nurse Practitioner sought for a weekday nocturnist role in the University of Maryland Midtown Campus Emergency Department. Provides patient-centered care to individuals with acute and emergent conditions during overnight weekday shifts, under supervision and in collaboration with physician colleagues and an interdisciplinary care team. Ensures continuity of patient care, facilitates care coordination, optimizes patient flow, and maintains safety and quality. Serves as a link integrating relevant research and current best practices; participates in communication with patients and families and supports the care team. Requires MS in Nursing with NP certification, Maryland APRN recognition, and eligibility for DEA/CDS; CPR, BLS, and ACLS as applicable; and ideally at least one year of RN experience. The role emphasizes collaboration, professional communication, and ongoing professional development as part of the department’s care delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • Master of Science degree in Nursing with completion of a Nurse Practitioner program
  • Registered and currently recognized with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland
  • Valid state APRN Recognition (must meet education requirements for state recognition)
  • DEA and CDS eligible
  • CPR required
  • BLS required
  • ACLS and/or other relevant certifications as required by the department
  • A minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse is preferred
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patient families, departmental units, medical and nursing staff
  • Maintains updated mandatory training
  • Updates immunizations as recommended per practice area
