Job Summary
Round on the inpatient service daily, performing comprehensive assessments of postoperative patients and new surgical oncology consults. Order diagnostic tests, consult specialists, and arrange admissions while managing complex cases involving the liver, pancreas, biliary system, and gastrointestinal tract. Perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures such as drain removal, wound opening, and basic wound care, and assist in the operating room as a first assistant. Interpret diagnostic results, prescribe medications, and maintain thorough patient documentation. Collaborate with surgeons, residents, nurses, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure smooth transitions from inpatient to outpatient settings and facilitate appropriate oncologic follow-up. Participate in patient education, consultation, and research initiatives. Work 5-day, 8-hour shifts or 4-day, 10-hour shifts within the NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Tucson, AZ.
Required Qualifications
- Current Board Certification
- DEA license
- BLS certification
- Graduate degree from an accredited NP/PA program
