Job Summary

Independent contractor Nurse Practitioner Regional Lead for the Island Region in British Columbia. Provides regional leadership, mentorship, and practice support to Nurse Practitioners within Primary Care Networks, delivering NP leadership programs and supporting MOH-funded initiatives. Works remotely with required regional travel; approximately 672 hours per year (about 0.4 FTE). Hourly rate is $116.22. Reports to the Director of Provincial and Regional Leadership Program; collaborates with MOH, health authorities, and other partners to advance NP practice within team-based primary health care. Emphasizes evidence-based clinical practice, professional coaching, stakeholder engagement, and culturally safe, equity-informed practice.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing - Nurse Practitioner
  • Current registration in good standing with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Active membership with NNPBC (or willingness to obtain prior to contract start)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or advancing Nurse Practitioner practice in primary care or team-based care environments
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage diverse partners across health systems
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver on commitments in a remote environment
  • Experience providing mentorship, coaching, or practice support to clinicians
  • Commitment to cultural safety, anti-racism, and equity-informed practice
  • Preferred Qualifications & Skills: Leadership & Systems Experience (if applicable)
  • Experience working with Primary Care Networks (PCNs)
  • Experience in quality improvement, change leadership, or system transformation initiatives
  • Familiarity with provincial primary care strategy and health system partners in BC
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and/or advancing Indigenous-specific cultural safety
  • Professional Strengths: Conflict resolution and facilitation skills
  • Experience influencing without formal authority
  • Strong emotional intelligence and reflective practice
  • Comfort navigating complex, evolving environments
  • Technology & Working Conditions: Technologically competent in tools required for remote and knowledge work
  • Fully remote; reside in the Island region of British Columbia and be able to travel as required
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a high-performing remote work environment
