Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatric Part-time

Job Summary

Conduct psychiatric evaluations, initiate standing orders, and prescribe medical/mental treatment for patients in residential, outpatient, and medication-assisted treatment settings. Perform physical examinations, coordinate post-discharge referrals, and act as a liaison to third-party payers while maintaining managed care requirements. Collaborate with nursing staff to determine medical eligibility and oversee care coordination through clinical staffing participation. Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, participate in peer review, and assist with quality improvement processes. Work 16-24 hours weekly in a part-time capacity, requiring board certification as a PMHNP and an unrestricted Ohio license.

Required Qualifications

  • Board certification as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP)
  • Unrestricted license in the State of Ohio
  • Licensure or eligibility as a Medicaid provider in Ohio

Desired Qualifications

  • ASAM certification
  • Previous experience providing medical care in an addiction treatment and behavioral health inpatient setting
  • Provider numbers for Kentucky and Indiana
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to identify withdrawal symptoms and addictive behavior of chemically dependent individuals
  • Ability to identify medical complications during treatment and respond appropriately
  • Patient-centered, trauma informed and projects a caring attitude
  • Ability to direct and motivate teams and patients through appropriate oral and written communication
  • Ability to create and maintain schedules
  • Good understanding of the treatment program
  • Values accurate and timely documentation in the medical chart, and monitors same in reporting staff
  • Excellent understanding of infection control issues and ability to be proactive in implementing safeguards
  • Ability to handle medical emergencies – Code Blue
  • Ability to input into and retrieve patient data from an electronic medical record effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both a small group setting and in a large public forum
  • Demonstrated ability to set goals and accomplish those goals at a personal and corporate level
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively
  • Ability to work well with individuals of diverse ages, cultures, races, religions, socioeconomic backgrounds, disabilities, gender, and sexual orientation
  • Values timeliness and accuracy of data and reports
  • Contract negotiation skills
  • Ability to navigate the building and monitor staff activity
