Job Summary
Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care works collaboratively with the care team to deliver medical services, including obtaining histories, performing exams, developing treatment plans, prescribing medications, and conducting routine diagnostic studies. The NP may perform procedures within privileges granted by the Medical Executive Committee (e.g., injections, immunizations, wound care, simple procedures) and may assist in inpatient settings under supervising physicians. Roles include patient education, care coordination, and contributing to population health outcomes across Martin’s Point Health Care facilities and After Hours Clinic, with opportunities to support care in homes, nursing homes, and extended-care facilities as assigned. Collaboration with supervising physicians to ensure appropriate delegation of tasks, documentation, and ongoing competency is required.
Required Qualifications
- Two years of experience in a paneled Primary Care Provider role
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program
- State Registered Nurse Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license
- ANA Board certification (ANCC or AANP)
- DEA License
- BLS Certification
- Prescriptive authority under medical delegation
- Ability to collaborate with physician supervisor
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practice and medical care
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
- Skills in taking medical history and maintaining records
