Job Summary
Provide comprehensive direct patient care including obtaining histories, performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, diagnosing illness, prescribing treatments, and delivering health maintenance interventions. Assume accountability for indirect care responsibilities such as staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement while assisting with necessary clerical functions. Maintain current registration with the Alabama Board of Nursing or Board of Medical Examiners and hold national certification for Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant roles. Requires BCLS certification during orientation and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a Nurse Practitioner Masters of Science in Nursing/Physician Assistant
- Successful completion of a national certification exam for NP/PA
- Current registration with the Alabama Board of Nursing and/or Board of Medical Examiners
- Approval of the Huntsville Hospital credentialing board
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly
- Must receive BCLS during the orientation period
- Works well with others in a team environment
