Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive direct patient care including obtaining histories, performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, diagnosing illness, and prescribing pharmacological treatments. Provide health maintenance interventions through patient and family education and counseling while assuming accountability for indirect responsibilities such as staff and student education, clinical research, and quality improvement. Maintain current certifications including ACLS, TNCC, and BLS, and complete department-specific competencies within the provisional period. Work full-time in a fast-paced environment requiring independent prioritization and frequent task changes.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a Nurse Practitioner Masters of Science in Nursing
- Successful completion of a national certification exam for NP
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current registration with the Alabama Board of Nursing
- Current registration with the Board of Medical Examiners
- Current Alabama PA license
- Approval of the Huntsville Hospital credentialing board
- Minimum 3 years full time ER or Critical Care RN and/or CRNP/PA experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
- Knowledge of all equipment and materials required for procedures described in the Emergency Care Center Policy/Procedure Manual and Nursing Service Procedure Manual
- BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
- ACLS certification
- TNCC certification
- PALS certification
