Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive direct patient care and scholarly practice for the Neurology Stroke Program, including obtaining histories, performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, diagnosing illness, and prescribing treatments. Provide health maintenance through patient and family education and counseling while assuming accountability for indirect care such as staff and student education, clinical research, and quality improvement. Maintain current Department specific competencies within the provisional period and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Requires a Master's degree, national certification, Alabama board registration, and minimum three years of ER or Critical Care experience.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Master's of Science program from an accredited college or university
- Successful completion of a National Certification Exam for NP/PA
- Current registration through the Alabama board of Nursing and/or Board of Medical Examiners
- Approval of the Huntsville Hospital credentialing board
- BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period
- Minimum 3 years full time ER or Critical Care RN and/or CRNP/PA experience

- ACLS preferred
