Job Summary
Clinical role for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant providing primary health care in a patient-centered setting at Sacramento Native American Health Center. Partners with supervising physician to assess, diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions; conducts labs and diagnostics, delivers preventive and reproductive health services, manages medications, documents in EHR, and coordinates care with ancillary providers. Requires licensure in CA, NP/PA certification, DEA registration, BLS, and prior primary care or community clinic experience; grant-funding note may apply. Strong emphasis on patient education, prevention, and culturally competent care within an FQHC environment.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN/NP or PA license with corresponding State Board of California
- Certified Family Nurse Practitioner from the American Nurses Credentialing Center
- Current active DEA registration or the ability to obtain upon hire
- Completion of certified Family Practice Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant program
- Must successfully complete the provider credentialing process in accordance with National Accreditation requirements
- Current Basic Life Support certification required
- Experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant in the area of primary care or a community clinic, or experience in assessing, diagnosing and treating a broad range of conditions, including medication management, under supervision of Provider
- Care and compassion in working with low income, indigent, and/or substance abusing individuals
- Ability to chart visits comprehensively and complete E&M coding in compliance with medical coding standards
- Experience with Nextgen or other electronic health record system
