Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive direct patient care including obtaining histories, performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, diagnosing illnesses, and prescribing treatments. Provide health maintenance interventions through patient and family education and counseling. Manage indirect care responsibilities such as staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement. Maintain current ACLS, TNCC, and BLS certifications while working independently in a fast-paced environment. Requires a Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant program, three years of ER or Critical Care experience, and successful completion of Alabama board and hospital credentialing requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of Nurse Practitioner Masters of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Successful completion of a National Certification Exam for NP or PA
- Current registration through the Alabama board of Nursing
- Current registration through the Board of Medical Examiners
- Approval of the Huntsville Hospital credentialing board
- Minimum 3 years full time ER or Critical Care RN and/or CRNP/PA experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
- Ability to prioritize and change tasks frequently and quickly
- Knowledge of all equipment and materials required for procedures described in the Emergency Care Center Policy/Procedure Manual and Nursing Service Procedure Manual
- BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
- ACLS certification
- TNCC certification
