Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive direct patient care including obtaining histories, performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, diagnosing illnesses, and prescribing pharmacological treatments. Provide health maintenance interventions through patient and family education and counseling while assuming accountability for indirect responsibilities such as staff education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement. Maintain current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and TNCC within required timelines while working independently in a fast-paced environment. Requires a Master's in Nursing, three years of ER or Critical Care experience, and successful completion of Alabama board registration and Huntsville Hospital credentialing.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of Nurse Practitioner Masters of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university
- Successful completion of a National Certification Exam for NP
- Current registration through the Alabama board of Nursing
- Current registration through the Board of Medical Examiners
- Approval of the Huntsville Hospital credentialing board
- Minimum 3 years full time ER or Critical Care RN and/or CRNP experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
- Knowledge of all equipment and materials required for procedures described in the Emergency Care Center Policy/Procedure Manual and Nursing Service Procedure Manual
- BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
- ACLS certification
- TNCC certification
- Department specific competencies
