Job Summary

Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant needed to deliver occupational health services for NASA personnel at Edwards, CA. Responsibilities include conducting thorough patient assessments, providing acute and chronic care management, administering injections, suturing, and IV infusions; documenting encounters in EMR systems (Epic, eClinicalWorks); coordinating with multidisciplinary teams for dermatology procedures and telehealth; managing urgent care triage and emergency response; supporting occupational health with drug testing and workers' compensation evaluations; assisting with CPT/ICD-10/ICD-9 coding; participating in aerospace medicine clinical research; and applying advanced clinical skills in a fast-paced aerospace setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license with current certification to practice in the designated jurisdiction of California
  • Basic Life Support (certified by the American Heart Association)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (certified by the American Heart Association)
  • Certified by the CAOHC (Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation)
  • Completion of the NIOSH (National Institute of Occupational Safety and Heath) Spirometry Course
  • Certified, and Registered as an FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) Medical Examiner
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner experience is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques including sonography and laboratory specimen collection/processing
  • Hands-on skills in suturing, phlebotomy, sterile processing, and aseptic technique
  • Ability to handle complex patient cases involving pain management, behavioral health issues, or post-operative recovery using evidence-based practices
  • Excellent communication skills for patient education on topics such as nutrition, medication administration
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards to ensure patient privacy and data security
  • Additional qualifications may include experience with occupational health programs
