Job Summary

Conduct in-depth interviews, perform physical examinations, and treat complications of cancer treatment while monitoring patient progress. Directly perform or order diagnostic studies, interpret results, and develop long- and short-range treatment plans. Instruct patients and families on preventive care, psychological issues, and prescribed treatments, and write medication orders subject to physician countersigning. Document visit histories, lab follow-ups, and consults in the electronic medical record, and record pertinent patient progress to update charts. Perform procedures such as bone marrow biopsies and notify the responsible physician of condition changes. Requires current NP or PA license, Master's degree, and National Certification; hospital privileges needed for call.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in nursing
  • Possession of current certificate of completion from a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice
  • National Certification required upon employment (Nurse Practitioners)
  • Will need hospital privileges to assist with call

Desired Qualifications

  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
