Job Summary

Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Medical Oncology at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Erie, PA. Full-time role joining a large APP team, providing high-quality inpatient and outpatient cancer care with an approximately 40% hospital rounding and 60% outpatient clinic mix. Schedule is Monday–Friday, daylight 8-hour shifts. Requires NP or PA certification and Pennsylvania licensure; BSN required with MSN preferred for NP path; active CRNP certification or NCCPA certification depending on track; CPR; and Pennsylvania clearances (Act 33/34/73). Senior APP qualifications include a minimum of 3 years of APP experience, ongoing certification, and successful promotion considerations. Priorities include independent clinical judgment, collaborative practice with physicians, patient education, quality improvement participation, and a commitment to a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) or Physician Assistant (NCCPA) with Pennsylvania license and CRNP certification (for NP role) or PA license and NCCPA certification (for PA role)
  • Completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program (NP) or ARC-PA–accredited PA program
  • BSN required; MSN preferred for NP track
  • Current Pennsylvania RN license and CRNP certification (NP track) or NCCPA certification (PA track)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Act 33, Act 34, Act 73 clearances required (Pennsylvania)
  • Minimum of 3 years APP experience for Senior Advanced Practice Provider status
  • National certification and appropriate licensure/certification for the discipline
  • ACLS, ITLS, NALS, PALS or other relevant certification within 30 days if applicable
  • Ability to obtain and maintain hospital privileges as required
  • Departmental or unit-specific credentialing requirements
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Independence with clinical decision-making within physician collaboration
  • Eligibility for licensure in Pennsylvania
