Job Summary
Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant needed for an outpatient Medical Oncology clinic at Northwestern Medicine. The APP will be partnered with a physician with Malignant Hematology specialty to support follow-up appointments and chemo teaching. Schedule is Monday–Friday with 4x10s or 5x8s. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive health assessments, direct clinical care, prescribing and interpreting tests, patient/family teaching, contributing to quality improvement and research, mentoring students, and participating in staff education and program development. Requires master’s degree (nursing or PA), Illinois RN and APRN licenses (or PA licensure), board certification/licensure, and related certifications (BLS, ACLS, DEA as required). Preferred: 2 years of experience. Benefits and background check provided. Remote option is in-person; location is Orland Park, IL.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited school/college of nursing OR master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois. Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois. Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by a national certifying body as approved by the Illinois Department of Regulation APRN Board. OR Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program/Current license as a Physician Assistant in the State of Illinois.
- Privileged and credentialed through the Medical Staff Office (MSO)
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (issued by the American Heart Association) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required as specified by department
- Controlled substance license and DEA registration required as specified by the department
