Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive physical assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and manage chronic and acute medical conditions for acutely ill adult patients in the PCU hospital setting. Prescribe medications and treatments while providing patient and family education on disease processes and post-hospital follow-up care. Work collaboratively with consultants, cardiology fellows, and clinical assistants across service lines including arrhythmias, circulatory failure, and valvular disease. Deliver 24/7 coverage with additional compensation for evenings, nights, and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- adept at evaluating and managing acutely ill adult patients
- timely assessment and intervention in urgent and emergent situations
- comprehensive physical assessment
- ordering and interpretation of diagnostic tests
- management of chronic and acute medical conditions
- prescribing medications and treatments
- counseling for health promotion and disease prevention
- Patient and family education about disease process
- post hospital follow up care plan
- health promotion
- work collaboratively with consultants, cardiology fellows, other APP staff members as well as clinical assistants, nurses
- services covered 24/7 by APP staff
