Job Summary
Conduct daily patient rounds, taking initial histories and performing physical examinations. Initiate, document, and communicate plans of care while interpreting laboratory and test results. Write orders for medications, labs, and diagnostic tests, then note discharge summaries and prescriptions upon patient release. Confer with attending physicians, residents, and nursing staff to ensure quality care and inform patients of post-discharge instructions. Requires current NYS license, NCCPA certification, or NP license with collaborative agreement, plus BLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Graduate of an accredited (Accreditation Review Committee for Physician Assistant Programs ARC-PA) program
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA) by the New York State Department of Education
- Current NCCPA Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Current BLS certification
- Master's Degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program
- National Board Certification in specialty area
- Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State
- Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
- Has a collaborative practice agreement with designated protocols filed with NYS Department of Education OR collaborative relationship attestation as per the Nurse Practitioner Modernization Act 2015
