Job Summary
Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Cardiology in a full-time outpatient setting. Works under supervision of Medical Director or approved staff physician, collaborating with PCCs, staff nurses, and discharge coordinators to plan, implement, and evaluate medical and nursing care for outpatient clinic patients. Responsibilities include primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization of critically ill patients, teaching residents/medical students, staff development, patient education, and discharge planning. Requires Master’s degree in nursing or PA-related bachelor’s degree and current APRN or PA licensure with prescriptive authority eligibility; BCLS/ACLS certification (and PALS for PA path); strong computer skills and proficiency with Windows-based software; excellent verbal and written communication; ability to travel between facilities and work a flexible schedule. The role emphasizes adherence to policies, ongoing professional development, and commitment to patient education and safety.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in nursing OR Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences, or graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program
- Current License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in state of practice OR License as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice, NCCPA Certification
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
- Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Nursing or Medical Examiners
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) for Physician Assistant path
- Proficient with Windows-style applications and various software packages; data entry and retrieval
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to educate patients and families
- Knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols at department/system level
- Ability to travel between facilities; flexible work schedule (e.g., 24/7, weekends, holidays, on-call)
- Experience working in outpatient clinic or hospital settings; collaborative care model
