Job Summary
Conduct patient assessments, manage medical-surgical care, and assist physicians with discharge planning in the Cardiac Cath/EP Lab. Order and interpret tests, formulate diagnoses, and implement treatment plans while documenting care per hospital policies. Perform invasive procedures including IV insertion, central line placement, and wound care, and assist with cardiac catheterizations and surgery. Manage emergencies requiring BLS/ACLS/PALS, initiate consults, and handle end-of-life documentation. Rounds with staff, complete billing forms, and submit discharge summaries by shift end. Requires New York NP license, BLS/ACLS/PALS certification, and on-call availability.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of NP educational program approved by the State of New York
- Current NP certification from either the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or the American Nurses Credentialing Center
- Bachelors and Masters degrees
- Current New York State license as registered nurse and NP
- Current Basic Life Support BLS from AHA
- Current Advanced Life Support ACLS from AHA
- Current Pediatric Life Support PALS from AHA
- Current New York State prescription privilege
- Current DEA number
- Current New York State Infection Control training certification
- Current member of American Academy of Nurse Practitioners AANP
- Current member of Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State NPA
- Psychomotor skills including walking and use of hands to perform examinations and procedures
- Interpersonal and customer service skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients their family members physicians nursing and other Hospital personnel when exchanging patient status care and treatment information
- Ability to recognize and address the psychosocial needs of patients and their families and the ability and skills necessary to attend to special needs relating to the patients age and diagnosis
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for approximately seventy five percent of work time for responsibilities such as providing patient care operating and monitoring equipment and recording data in patient charts
- Ability to walk and stand for approximately seventy five percent of work time and to lift pull push and/or carry items such as equipment weighing up to twenty pounds or patients on stretchers for approximately twenty five percent of work time when providing patient care
- Basic computer skills in email scanning Word PowerPoint and Excel
- Registered Nurse License-NYS
- Nurse Practitioner-NYS
- Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
