Job Summary
Nurse Practitioner in Medical Oncology provides direct and indirect patient care with initiative and responsibility under minimal supervision. Responsibilities include assessing routine follow-up patients and add-ons (average 8-12 per day), ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures, communicating with providers, completing notes and charges, facilitating refills of specialty medications (e.g., Capecitabine, Palbociclib, Ibrutinib) and controlled substances, managing bone density with physicians, assisting nursing staff with infusion/allergy reactions, managing physician inboxes and referrals, authorizations into REMS programs (Lenalidomide/Pomalidomide), handling emergencies to ensure patient safety, adjusting treatment orders as needed, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, pursuing ongoing education, and performing other duties as assigned. Travel between local offices is required. This role emphasizes patient and family-centered care, professional growth, and adherence to safety and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Current California RN License, Nurse Practitioner and Furnishing certification
- CPR certification
- Current DEA License or willing to obtain within one month of hire
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in outpatient oncology setting
- OCN Certification, required
