Job Summary

Conduct primary and preventive medical care for walk-in patients, including urgent and emergent evaluations of episodic and chronic problems. Perform physical examinations, diagnose health issues, and develop tailored treatment plans involving pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. Prescribe medications, order diagnostic tests, and interpret laboratory results while maintaining infection control and universal precautions. Supervise support staff, coordinate patient flow per VA access standards, and close patient charts within 24-72 hours. Provide patient and family education on wellness, prevention, and disease management. Maintain current New York licensure, DEA license, and ANA certification in Adult Health or Family Practice. Requires three years of clinical nursing experience and BLS/CPR certification. Starting pay is $48.53/hour.

Required Qualifications

  • Three years of clinical nursing experience
  • Minimum of one-year clinical experience as an APRN
  • Current and unrestricted DEA License
  • Current and unrestricted New York license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) or the Military Training Network (MTN)
  • Prescriptive authority in accordance with state rules and regulations
  • Master's degree in nursing from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Full and current certification as a Nurse Practitioner from the American Nurses Association (ANA)
  • ANA certification as a Nurse Practitioner in either Adult Health or Family Practice
  • Exceptional diplomatic communication skills
  • Experience in handling difficult customer situations
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Moderate physical activity
  • Handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds
  • Standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day
  • Ability to respond to any medical emergency within the clinic

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in outpatient care in a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine environment
  • Three years preferred (in addition to the minimum one-year APRN experience)
