Job Summary
Conduct age-appropriate patient assessments including history taking and physical examinations consistent with department protocol. Perform ongoing systematic data collection focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status while providing patient education and advocacy. Collaborate with supervising physicians and clinicians to assure effective patient care, review medical records for diagnostic studies, and establish communication with health care providers to ensure continuity. Delegates team duties, evaluates care effectiveness, and participates in performance improvement and research activities. Practice under standard procedures and emergency protocols while maintaining legal compliance and confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 months experience as a nurse practitioner
- Two (2) years (within the past three (3) years) experience as a NP providing specialized care for patients in an emergency department or urgent care setting
- Masters Degree in Nursing
- Completion of a Masters Program in Family Practice NP or Acute Care NP
- Registered Nurse License (California)
- Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number (California)
- Nurse Practitioner Certificate (California)
- Basic Life Support
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Nurse Practitioner National Certificate
- National Provider Identifier required at hire
- Must meet credentialing requirements established for nurse practitioners within the Kaiser system
- National Certification from one of the following organizations: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; American Credentialing Center; National Certification Corporation for Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties; National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses
